Advice on child internet safety
Thursday 9th February
UKCCIS has launched a guide on child internet safety for organisations and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to help parents and children get quality and consistent messages about internet safety. It encourages organisations to tell parents and children how to mitigate risk and how to handle instances of harm, including where to report their concerns.
The advice has been developed by industry for industry and follows concerns that parents are getting conflicting advice from different providers and organisations. More than 40 organisations helped to create the advice including all four major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) – BT, Sky,TalkTalk and Virgin – Facebook and Microsoft. It can be used by any organisation, ISP or business that provides internet services used by children and covers all the key safety risks such as privacy, grooming, sexual images, harmful content, cyberbullying and fraud.
